Career:
1966 - Joined Manchester United as apprentice professional.
1967 - August 12 - Aged 18, made United debut in 3-3 draw with Tottenham
Hotspur in Charity Shield. One week later made league debut for United in 3-1
away defeat at Everton, a club he later joined.
1968 - May 29 - On his 19th birthday scores Manchester United's third goal in
their 4-1 win over Benfica in the European Cup Final at Wembley Stadium
1974 - After total of 264 matches and 70 goals for United, joins Arsenal for
110,000 pounds.
1976 - July -- Returned to Manchester, signing for City in 110,000 pounds deal.
1979 - March -- Left City for Everton where he became one of the few players to
complete a rare trio of playing in a Manchester derby, a North London derby
and a Merseyside derby.
1980 - May -- After scoring 12 goals for Everton in 40 league matches, joined
Bolton scoring 14 goals in 43 league appearances before moving to the United
States in 1981.
1985 - Began managerial career as player-manager of non-league Barrow before
joining Preston as assistant manager.
1985 - December -- Appointed Preston manager
1986 - March -- Resigned as Preston manager
1989 - Returned to Manchester United as a coach
1991 - Appointed assistant manager by Alex Ferguson
1998 - Dec 3 -- Named as Blackburn Rovers manager
